for solo piano.
These three short pieces were devised as a distracting balm for a lonely pianist at night. It is night music with its somber moods and erratic behaviour, unaware of its own destiny. Although trying to keep the sound soft in tone not to wake up those asleep, they fail to refrain themselves, sometimes achieving loud commotion, unyielding. The first Nocturne works a recurring melody always troubled by an incessant accompanying flow of never surrendering notes. The second Nocturne stands like a sphynx with its literal recapitulation of an aimless song. The bright colors of the third Nocturne give the necessary relief to the set, distracting itself with a melody and an accompaniment that seldom meet each other but always work together.
