Quatro Tempos Metálicos (2012)
(Four Metallic Movements)
for solo piano with quadruple ring modulation (live electronics).
Quatro Tempos Metálicos is a cycle of 4 pieces for solo piano with realtime audio processing, by means of the Quadruple Ring Modulator. This modulator is basically composed of four specially designed ring-modulation units assembled in parallel, and it was designed and programmed by the composer himself using the software Pure Data, a visual programming environment for realtime data, audio and video processing.
Quatro Tempos Metálicos received the FUNARTE Classical Composition prize of 2012, given by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture.
